Startups in state get a boost, new pact inked

Gurgaon: The department of information technology, electronics and communication (DITECH), Haryana signed an MoU with India Accelerator for fostering the startup ecosystem in the state.
According to the officials at DITECH, the association will stimulate innovation and growth of disruptive startups in Haryana. The association between DITECH and Ecosystem Partners will help in creating an ecosystem that stimulates independent thinking and innovative ideas to help startups in different stages of their entrepreneurial journey in addition to sharing of knowledge/information for promotion of the startup ecosystem in Haryana,” said special secretary at DITECH.
The Haryana startup policy itself mentions that the state would take initiatives to provide mentorship and other resources to the startups in the state on a pro bono basis and the association is a step in that direction. India Accelerator will provide support to the startups registered with startup Haryana through knowledge sharing at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey.
It plans to extend its services free of cost to highly potential startups thereby, creating a holistic and sustainable ecosystem in the state of Haryana.
“Partnership between India Accelerator and Startup Haryana will be a big step to bring public-private collaboration to build the startup ecosystem in the state. India Accelerator will be helping startups in Haryana by bridging the gap between industry and startups,” said Ashish Bhatia, CEO and founder of India Accelerator.
He added that the startups will also get access to varied investment options and massive perks under its membership with IBM Cloud Google Cloud among others. India Accelerator is a formal partner with Global Funds such as Emphasis Ventures (EMVC), SGAN & Global Accelerator Network Venture Funds along with its own network of investors.
Haryana had launched its startup policy in September 2017 with an aim to push startup activity in the state. The policy largely focused on attracting INR 500 Crores investments into the Incubation and Startup Ecosystem in Haryana during policy period, establishing at least 10 Technology /Business Incubators / Accelerators in each of the different sectors in the State in different regions of the state, developing 1 million sq. ft. of Incubation Space, facilitating Venture Capital funding of a minimum of INR 200 Crore and encourage/Facilitate/Incubate at least 500 startups.
However, the initiatives have largely remained on paper and the state slipped in the national startup rankings announced earlier this.
