Uttar Pradesh’s weekly Covid-19 positivity rate down to 1%, 1,277 new cases reported in 24 hours

LUCKNOW: UP's case positivity rate for Covid-19 through the RT-PCR method has been about 1% over the past one week, said additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad on Tuesday.
“Data suggess that Covid-19 cases were declining in the state. While the overall case positivity rate is around 1.4%, the CPR for the past week was reported to be 1%,” Prasad said speaking after the Covid-19 review.
He said that though the number of cases was declining, the risk of pandemic infection was still prevalent. “An evolved strain of the pandemic virus has been recorded in many western countries. While the state is taking all measures to stay ahead of the pandemic virus prevention is the only safe bet,” he said.
As per the official Covid-19 bulletin, 1,277 fresh cases took the state's total to 5,76,832. Of this, 5,51,917 had recovered while 8224 died. As many as 13 persons died in the past 24 hours.

Propotion of elderly postives on the rise: The data from the health department revealed that the number of elderly Covid-19 cases was on the rise. As on Tuesday, the proportion of 60-plus patients was 10.6%. Health officials urged people to stay cautious and save the elders from the pandemic virus as the death rate in the segment was very high. “Of the total Covid-19 deaths reported so far, over 46% patients were above the 60 years. This means that though their proportion may be low among cases, they form a bulk of the deaths. Prevention is paramount,” said ACS, health, Prasad.
Dial covid-19 helpline if pvt labs overcharge: Stating that incidents of several private pathologies overcharging for test of covid-19 despite clear government orders, ACS health and family welfare Amit Mohan Prasad said that anyone who comes across such a problem, can lodge a complaint with the chief medical officer of their district or register their problem with the state helpline. He reiterated that the state has fixed Rs 700 as the prie for RT-PCR test for Covid-19 if the person goes to the pathology while no lab can charge more than Rs 200 extra for home collection.
