As the year comes to an end

Dr Ranbir Laishram *

The year is coming to a close,
In the blink of an eye,
Amid moments of chaos,
And gloomy days of the pandemic.
Yes, the year was tough,
For many a family and establishments.
It brought untold stories of sufferings and misery,
Tales of woes and despair.
I have both grief and pride.
Grief for the loved ones,
and frontline health workers,
Who lost their lives through this pandemic.
And pride for the great noble souls,
For their sacrifice in the service of humanity.
But we have never denied,
Our duties in the darkest hour.
Life wasn't easy then.
Tragedy struck pandemic days!
And the global family struggled their best,
Searching a means to end this apocalypse.
We stood on our own with care.
And we still found our way,
Through our lives' journey.
Teary nights and tiresome days...
The dismal global truth!
Humans fought with each other endlessly,
Stockpile of weapons mass destruction,
Spent millions of dollars on war,
On missions to Mars and the Moon.
But a meagre sum was spared for Health Care.
Things we once ignored,
Have cost us dearly.
Millions of lives withered helplessly across the globe.
Gone are the days of regret and guilt,
We leave the old and embrace the new.
It's time to move with courage, confidence and hope.
Now, another year is at our doorstep.
With a special prayer for those that lay in ICU
Around the world
Let's pray earnestly for health, peace and love
And for the safety of our global family.
And not for wealth or fame.
