Nizamabad: Telangana government is committed to resolve the long pending forest lands issue (podu lands) being cultivated by tribal farmers and provide ROFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) pattas to them, said MLC Kavitha.
On Tuesday, MLC Kavitha took part in ‘vigraha prathishta’ ceremony of Sant Sevalal temple, along with Endowments Minister A Indra Karan Reddy, Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod and Housing Minister Vemula Prashanth Reddy, at Devi tanda of Indalwai mandal.
On the occasion, MLC Kavitha said tribal farmers in the State had been facing issues of forest land rights and demanding ROFR pattas to the lands they are cultivating. She said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao promised to solve this issue with a special focus. She advised the tribals to bring out any issues if they face with the officials.
Tribal Welfare Minister Satyavati Rathod said for the last few years, Lambada community have been demanding for ‘Maa Tanda lo Maa Rajyam’ (self governance in thandas). Accordingly, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao paid heed to their demand and transformed nearly 3,000 tandas into Gram Panchayats, This apart, Telangana government has launched Tribal Residential Schools, construction of Bajara Bhavan for tribals and issuance of ROFR pattas to nearly 2,000 tribal farmers and Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima to their lands as well.
Stating that the celebrations of Sant Sevalal Maharaj Jayanthi being conducted in State for the first time in the country, Minister Prashanth Reddy thanked Minister Indrakaran for sanctioning Rs 50 lakh for the construction of the Sant Sevalal temple.
Endowments Minister Indrakaran Reddy said ROFR pattas were issued for nearly 90 percent of the podu lands and the remaining land will be issued as early as possible. He informed that earlier the endowment department issued funds to the temple, when they paid 33 percent contribution only, but now the TRS government decreased the contribution from 33 percent to 20 percent. He promised to take steps for the development of Indalwai Sevalal temple.
The programme was also attended by Nizamabad Rural MLA Bajireddy Goverdhan, MLC’s V G Goud, Nizamabad Mayor Neethu Kiran and local public representatives.
Kavitha comes to rescue of woman
Nizamabad: Nizamabad local bodies MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha’s humane side was on display when she came to the rescue of a woman who was lying unconscious on the roadside at Kanteshwar in the town on Tuesday. The woman, it is suspected, was hit by an unidentifid vehicle.
Kavitha, who was on her way to Lakshmi Ganapathi temple in Borgaon, stopped her convoy on seeing the woman and shifted her to hospital. She came to know from the small crowd gathered there that the woman was hit by a vehicle and had fallen unconscious, and immediately had her shifted to hospital for treatment.
