Sensex Gains Over 450 Points, Nifty Tops 13466 Levels; IT Pack Gains Most
In a volatile session, towards the end benchmark indices traded firm. Sensex ended with gains of 452.73 or 0.99% at 46006.69, while Nifty was up over 1% or 137 points at 13466. All the Nifty sectoral gainers were largely in the green with Nifty IT, leading the list of gainers, up 3.36% at close. In fact Nifty IT index hit its record high on hopes of strong earnings growth in Q3FY21.

Among top gainers in trade today were scrips like Adani Ports, HCL Tech, Tech Mahindra, Infosys and GAIL, while losers include Kotak Mahindra, HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Hindalco and Reliance Industries.
Spicejet was down for the second day after the Indian government suspended flights to and from the UK from Tuesday midnight to December 31 on worries over new covid 19 strain.
L&T Infotech (LTI), a global technology consulting and digital solutions company, also scaled to a fresh high of Rs. 3618.

At the time of writing this copy, European markets too traded with gains of over 1% on both German DAX and French CAC, while on the UK's FTSE the gains were to the tune of 0.31 percent.
Oil prices continued to plunge by another 2 percent today as a new strain of the novel coronavirus stoked concerns regarding demand recovery for the commodity.Brent crude futures were down 88 cents, or 1.7% to $50.03 a barrel while U.S. WTI crude futures fell 92 cents, or 1.9%, to $47.05 a barrel.
