Amazon Business 2020 roundup: A year of enabling MSMEs in India

''MSME buyers enjoyed a year of more savings, top deals, widest selection of GST enabled commercial products with Amazon Business as a trusted partner for all their business requirements, especially with the disruption caused by the COVID -19 pandemic in carrying out business operations,'' the e-commerce giant said.
Commenting on the yearly roundup, Peter George, Director, Amazon Business, said, “As we close out a challenging year, our effort has been to serve and help the MSME community ramp up their business faster by helping them become more efficient with their buying process, improve savings and drive profitability. We are grateful to our MSME customers who trusted Amazon Business for all their purchase requirements.”
Amazon in its year- ender report claimed that there were better deals and more savings for MSMEs throughout the year.
''Helped MSMEs get back on their feet with ‘MSME Accelerate’ which offered attractive cashbacks and business exclusive deals and accelerated saw over 30 per cent increase in buying customers and 35 per cent increase in orders compared to BAU,'' Amazon said.
The e-commerce giant also said that the business value days continued to help businesses manage their monthly purchases. Over 16 business value days hosted, with over 5,000 offers curated across each sale; generating savings of over INR 2.73 crore for businesses.
''MSMEs showed their biggest participation ever during the Great Indian Festival with over 80 per cent increase in total sales Vs 2019,'' it added.
''Launched business PAN to extend the access of Amazon business to over 80 lakh businesses without GST registration. Launched Shared Pay to facilitate purchase process decentralization that helps improve overall process efficiency, a feature that can be leveraged by over 35 per cent of the current customer base and also launched e-invoicing to comply with the new compliance norms released by the government,'' Amazon added.
Lauding its overwhelming response fr0m customers, Amazon said that over 90 per cent increase in customer base since 2019 while over 70 per cent increase in buying customers Vs. 2019.
''Over 35 per cent increase in monthly active users since 2019 while over 65 per cent increase in total orders Vs 2019. 85 per cent increase in sales Vs 2019 while 95 per cent increase in bulk orders Y-o-Y and 100 per cent increase in bulk sales YoY,'' it claimed.
''Over 25 per cent of orders came fr0m Tier2, 3 markets, which saw a 70 per cent spike in sales compared to 2019. Over 30 per cent of the customer base now belongs to Tier 2,3 markets,'' Amazon said.
It also appreciated sellers and termed that they were the backbone of our success adding, ''Over 25 per cent increase in total sellers on the Amazon Business marketplace Vs 2019 while 20 per cent more sellers received an order Vs 2019 and 25 per cent more sellers made it to the crorepati club Vs 2019
To cater to the pandemic induced Work fr0m Home situation, we launched stores to meet the changing purchase demand fr0m MSMEs, it said.
''We launched the Work fr0m Home store which received orders fr0m across the country and saw heightened interest in the corporate gifting store with 65 per cent YoY increase in orders,'' Amazon said.
