Telenet sees sharp increase in television viewing hours during lockdowns

Belgians watched TV more than ever in the past year, according to numbers from Telenet, looking at the viewing behavior of its 1.8 million television customers. During lockdowns, people watched television an average of 7 hours a day, with daytime becoming primetime for a while. Over the year as a whole, people watch 16 percent more TV during the day, when compared to the year before. Belgians watched up to 20 percent more linear news programs, with a major peak in April (+58%).
