City remote sensing society chapter best in country

Ludhiana, December 20

The Ludhiana chapter of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) received the best chapter award of the ISRS. It was announced during the national convention and symposium hosted online today. The chapter is housed at the Punjab Remote Sensing Centre (PRSC).

This is the second time the Ludhiana chapter awarded the best chapter award at the national level in the past five years. Dr Brijendra Pateriya, Director, PRSC-cum-patron, ISRS-LC, said it was a moment of pride for the team ISRS-Ludhiana Chapter and PRSC staff to receive the best chapter award among 27 chapters of the country.

Dr Pateriya, who is also the vice-president of the national executive committee, congratulated all members who worked tirelessly for this achievement.

Dr PK Kingra, professor of agricultural meteorology, PAU, Ludhiana, and Chairperson, ISRS-Ludhiana chapter, said the award consists of a citation, a medal and a cash award of Rs 50,000.

Dr RK Setia, senior scientist and vice-president of the Ludhiana chapter, along with other members, played a key role for conducting and organising events.

SK Sahoo, Scientist-SD, PRSC, and Secretary, ISRS, Ludhiana chapter, said the jury responsible for the national-level selection had recognised the efforts of the chapter as it organised various remote sensing and awareness workshops and educational events in various parts of the state, especially rural areas, besides, other programmes such as national conference on big data, National Remote Sensing Day, National Science Day and World Environment Day over the years. The Ludhiana chapter of the ISRS got the best chapter award due to the significant contribution made by its members to promote the mandate and goal of the society in the state.
