MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government has announced night curfew in all municipal corporation areas from Tuesday for the next 14 days, till January 5, 2021 as a precautionary measure against the backdrop of the new coronavirus variant found in the UK. The night curfew will be from 11pm to 6am in Mumbai and other major cities in the state.
Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday chaired a meeting with senior bureaucrats to discuss the measures to be taken. "More precautions are being taken in the state and we have to be more vigilant for the next 15 days," said Thackeray after chairing the meeting with state health officials and BMC commissioner.
It has been decided that those passengers who have arrived at the airport from Europe and the Middle East countries should be placed under institutional quarantine for the 14 days and for those passengers who have arrived from other countries should follow home quarantine.
Chief minister asked the BMC commissioner to make necessary arrangements at hotels and separate hospitals for the institutional quarantine for the passengers arriving by international flights, while passengers will be stamped on their hands for home quarantine.
CM directed the municipal corporation to provide PPE kits to all staff working at the airport checking passengers coming from Europe and the Middle East.
Thackeray have asked those passengers who have arrived from Europe and the Middle East should provide information about their travel history. CM said that he will hold a meeting with all the district collectors and municipal commissioners against the backdrop of the new coronavirus variant in the UK to take extra care.
Thackeray also asked people, while organising marriage ceremonies, to follow the Covid-norms to prevent the spread of disease.
