
New Delhi: Financial institutions, chocolates, cellular phone services, biscuits and oral hygiene products were the top five television advertisers during the Indian Premier League this year, according to a report by media tech startup Zapr which if funded by 21st Century Fox, Star India, Flipkart, Saavn and others.
Water purifiers, e-commerce firms including matrimonial sites, social ads by government, watches and air conditioners were the next five in the list of top ten advertisers during the tournament.
The report added that 47 percent of viewers of the IPL this year were online gamers, 45 percent OTT users, 40 percent young parents, 37 percent digital streamers and 17 percent working professionals.
Towns like Rajkot and Bhavnagar in Gujarat, Gaya and Bhagalpur in Bihar showed significant reach share for their respective states, the report further added.
Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings were the top three watched teams.
Around 30 percent viewers were distracted viewers or chord fakers, the report said. They were engaged with their mobile phonesand paid little or no attention to what was happening on TV.
