In October, 11.55 lakh new employees were enrolled in the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). This number is 56% higher than the enrollment of 7.39 lakh employees in October last year. Recent payroll data suggests employment status in the formal sector amid the coronavirus epidemic.
However, in September this year, 14.19 lakh employees were registered with EPFO. Looking at this, there has been a decrease of 2.64 lakh in the month of October. The new figures were released on Sunday. According to this, (-), 1,79,685 were separated from EPFO in April this year while (-) 1,49,248 in November. This negative number means that EPFO had a higher number of exits than new enrollments. 78.58 lakh new employees were registered in EPFO during 2019-20 as against 61.12 lakh in the previous year.
