DAVIDSON, N.C. — Jerry Sloan, Ford Motor Co.'s executive director of public affairs and later a professor at his alma mater, Ohio University, died Dec. 10 — his 84th birthday. He started at Ford in 1960 as editor of the employee publication at a Cleveland stamping plant and rose to become director of corporate information in 1980. From 1983 to 1987, he was vice president of public relations at American Motors. He returned to Ford after Chrysler Corp. bought AMC.
