People will be able to get refunds if their Christmas travel plans have been cancelled because of new coronavirus restrictions, the transport secretary has said.
Grant Shapps said travellers would not be "left out of pocket" for sticking to the rules and staying put.
"It is imperative that we all follow the new measures and play our part in tackling this virus, protecting others and safeguarding our NHS," said Mr Shapps.

"If you booked a coach or rail journey between 23 and 27 December, you are entitled to a cash refund.
"This ensures no one is left out of pocket for doing the right thing - staying home in Tier 4, and elsewhere staying local and only meeting your Christmas bubble on Christmas Day."
Tickets will only be refunded if they were bought after the bubble policy was announced on 24 November, and before Saturday's announcement that restrictions would be tightened.
People are advised to check travel company websites for how to claim.
The special rules allowing greater mixing at Christmas were dramatically scaled back at the weekend after the discovery of a new mutation of COVID-19 that's being blamed for a large rise in cases in the South East and London.

Millions are now in Tier 4, with rules akin to the recent national lockdown, and have been told to only mix at Christmas with people from their own household or support bubble.
Following the prime minister's announcement, crowds of people were seen boarding trains leaving London for the rest of the UK.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock called it "totally irresponsible behaviour".
