HCS asks designated officers to closely watch entry of vehicles at checkpoints on borders

Chandigarh, Dec 21 (UNI) While, tightening the noose around the drivers of other states who illegally enter Haryana and ply their overloaded mining vehicles in the State, Haryana Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan Monday directed the officers concerned to keep a close vigil on the entry of such vehicles by setting up checkpoints on inter-state borders so as to ensure that entry of such vehicles is blocked.
Besides this, Chief Secretary also gave directions for setting up checkpoints at the entry and exit points of crusher zones.
Mr. Vijai Vardhan gave these directions while presiding over a meeting regarding drawing a strategy for checking plying of overloading mining vehicles across Haryana with the Deputy Commissioners, officers of Transport, Mining and Police Departments through video conferencing here Monday.

While directing the officers concerned to take strict action against overloaded vehicles of other states entering Haryana, Chief Secretary said such overloaded vehicles have not only become a major cause of accidents but are also causing revenue loss to the State.
Mr. Vijai Vardhan directed the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to form a Committee along with the District Transport Officers (DTOs) and conduct special checking drives under which special monitoring of overloading vehicles can be done on the inter-state borders.
He said apart from setting up checkpoints on the inter-state borders, the entry and exit points of the crusher zones should also be blocked, so that overloading of vehicles coming and going in the crusher zones can be checked on the spot and necessary and timely action can be taken. This will also ensure proper monitoring of the entire process, said the Chief Secretary.
Mr. Vijai Vardhan also directed that challaning of overloading vehicles coming from other states should also be done. Besides this, proper coordination with the officers of neighbouring states should be established so as to ensure close monitoring of overloading vehicles. He said special checking drives should be run in various districts of the state including Narnaul, Nuh, Bhiwani, Rewari, Dadri, Panipat and Panchkula.
Principal Secretary, Mines and Geology Department, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan informed the Chief Secretary that with the implementation of e-RAVANA system in the state, problem of overloading vehicles has been curbed to a great extent, but the vehicles coming from other states have certainly become a major cause of concern. However, in order to curb the movement of these overloaded vehicles, as per the directions given by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar a separate list of entry points of vehicles coming from outside the state and crushing zones has been prepared and checkpoints are being setup with the help of police.
