Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on Sunday that, just hours before a potential government shutdown, a bipartisan deal had finally been reached on an almost $900 billion coronavirus relief package, including stimulus checks for most Americans.
No votes are expected on the package until Monday, as its text was still being finalized.
“Make no mistake about it, this agreement is far from perfect,” Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said. “But it will deliver emergency relief to a nation in the throes of a genuine emergency.”
