Mah Congress mourns demise of old guard Motilal Vora

Mumbai, Dec 21 (UNI) Maharashtra Congress on Monday mourned the passing away of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and party veteran Motilal Vora.
In the condolence message, State Congress chief Balasaheb Thorat said, “The news of the death of senior Congress leader Motilal Vora is very painful. He had devoted his entire life to the party.”
“Until the end, he lived for the Congress. With his demise, the party has lost a very loyal and experienced leaders,” he remarked.
Thorat, recollected how the vetran Congress leader began his career as a journalist and then entered politics in 1968.
Reminiscing Mr Vora's political journey, Thorat further said, “He won the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections in 1970, again in 1977 and 1980. He twice served as the state's chief minister.”
“Vora also became the State President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, Union Minister, Governor of Uttar Pradesh. For 18 years, he was the Treasurer of the All India Congress Committee,” he added.
He further said, “Also a member of the Rajya Sabha, Vora on Sunday celebrated his 93rd birthday. His demise has dealt a heavy loss to the Congress party.”
“The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee shares the grief of the Vora family,” he said.
