Madras University exams begin from today, over 2 lakh to appear
More than two lakh students are expected to appear for University of Madras part-online semester exams scheduled to begin on Monday. One lakh students with arrears, who paid fees for April/May 2020, will also appear.

CHENNAI: More than two lakh students are expected to appear for University of Madras part-online semester exams scheduled to begin on Monday. One lakh students with arrears, who paid fees for April/May 2020, will also appear.
The university has decided to conduct the exams partially online. The exam duration is 180 minutes, at the start of which affiliated colleges will distribute question papers to students through digital platforms. The students, immediately after the exam, will have to send the hard copies to their respective colleges through speed post or e-mail the photos of their answersheets. The rules vary from college to college.
An official from the unversity said, “We will upload the question papers on the university’s website and colleges will download them.”
P Murugakoothan, principal of Pachaiyappa’s College, said the college is going to conduct exams for more than 2,000 students. “We have appointed a nodal officer for each class and we will share question papers to students through WhatsApp groups. Students will write the exams in pen-and-paper mode and send the answerscripts via speed post to us,” he said.
Asan Memorial College of Arts and Science, has asked students to write a maximum 40 pages and e-mail answer scripts on completion. “We will save them in CD-format after evaluation,” said college’s S Ramanathan.
