Brazilian Lower House approves proposal for purchase of tablets and internet for public schools

Brazil's Lower House has approved a proposal that earmarks BRL 3.5 billion for the purchase of tablets and data packages for 14 million low-income pupils and 1.5 million public school teachers, reports O Estado de Sao Paulo. Bill 3477/20 aims to provide internet access for pupils and teachers during the pandemic. The matter now goes to the Senate for a vote and a decision is expected by the end of February, so that the equipment would be distributed within six months.
