Madras high court directs man to deposit Rs 75,000 to cancer institute after granting bail

MADURAI: After granting bail to a man, who was in possession of banned tobacco products, the Madras high court directed him to deposit Rs 75,000 as a non-refundable deposit to the cancer institute.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Rajesh, who was arrested by the Sellur police in Madurai on November 26.
The government advocate submitted that the petitioner was in possession of 663kg of banned tobacco products.
Taking into consideration the facts and circumstances of the case, justice G K Ilanthiraiyan granted bail to the petitioner on condition that he should make a non-refundable deposit of Rs 75,000 to the Arignar Anna Cancer Institute in Kancheepuram district.
