Ukhrul: Job card holders warn of protest on Dec 23

Ukhrul, December 19 2020: The All Hunphun Tangs Association (AHTA) has stated that prolonged delay in distribution of MGNREGA funds will compel the job card holders to stage protest demonstrations against the Government.

AHTA is a conglomera tion of 28 localities of Ukhrul.

Speaking to media persons during a press conference at Awontang Hall, Ukhrul, today, AHTA president Chonmi Raleng asserted that the RD Minister has failed to materialise his assurance of sanctioning MGNREGA fund in time.

Chonmi continued that AHTA unanimously resolved to organize a public rally on December 23 in case the State Government fails to address or sanction the fund before Christmas.

According to him, geo tagging and report of 50 days work completion were all submitted to the BDO office, however, a fund for only 2 days was released in the first week of November.

Meanwhile, Alungpam Ruivah, chairman of Viewland Zone III slammed the State Govern ment for encouraging the job card holders with 'empty promises' .

Alungpam further mentioned that the job card holders had invested all their resources to complete the 50 days MGNREGA work in time.

Appealing the State Government to release the MGNREGA fund before December 22, he added that a peaceful demonstration will be held in Ukhrul Headquarters on Dec 23 if the demand is not fulfilled.
