Appealing to the youth of Goa to take charge of their future, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’ Souza said, “Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, take up entrepreneurship and start your own businesses. The state government strongly supports skill development startup policies and its schemes for young and budding individuals” said the Mapusa MLA while addressing a gathering at Hutatma Chowk on Saturday.
He further added that “The state government has introduced a number of schemes and benefits for farmers, entrepreneurs and individuals interested in agriculture, animal husbandry fisheries, livestock milk production, food processing and agri business”.
On Saturday freedom fighter Jairam Sirsat hoisted the tricolour at Hutatma Chowk in the presence of the administrator of MMC Paresh Faldessai, chief officer Kabir Shirgaonkar and other dignitaries. The programme was followed by paying floral tributes by various dignitaries including Bardez deputy collector I, Akshay Potekar, Bardez mamlatdar Laxmikant Kuttikar and others. Even former Council members were present along with eminent personalities of Mapusa. Students, MMC staff and Covid warriors were felicitated.
Addressing the gathering, Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza said that we were liberated from the Portuguese rule. But today in 2020, the definition of liberation has completely changed the world, the country and the state.
“We are still facing the threat of the pandemic and with it come the economic implications and financial burdens on the government as well as its people. And today, our definition of liberation comes in the form of self reliance “added D’Souza.
He further added that Prime Minister Modi propagates ideology through the atmanirbhar baarat, which takes cue from the swadeshi movement.
“It is time for us to reinvent ourselves and use the opportunity to revive our traditional industries and work towards Swayampurna Goem through the recently launched skill building programmes” added D’Souza.
