MPCC general secretary Prithviraj Sathe promoted to post of national secretary

Mumbai, Dec 19 (UNI) General secretary of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Prithviraj Sathe, has been selected as the secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) by the party president Sonia Gandhi.
Mr Sathe has been given the charge of Assam ahead of the state assembly elections there.
With the Assam assembly elections coming up next year, his elevation to this very crucial post is considered significant, indicating the party's immense faith in a young Marathi party worker.
Mr Sathe started his political career in 1992 by winning the students' body election at Fergusson College in Pune, with the support of NSUI. He later worked as the secretary of the All India Youth Congress.
He was also a member of Rahul Gandhi's core group in the 2007 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
As the general secretary of the state unit of Congress, Mr Sathe has had played an important role in the day-to-day work of the party.
He has had played a vital role in the 2019 Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections and also fulfilled every responsibility given to him by the Congress party.
He not only has knowledge of various national and international subjects but also has a talent in organisation building, the release added.
