Former Indian batsman and legend Sunil Gavaskar has defended India's mindboggling collapse against Australia saying that it's unfair to blame the batsmen for it.
India were bowled out for a paltry 36 as none of the batsmen could reach double figures. It was also their lowest total in Test matches, 6 less than theire previous lowest of 42.
Gavaskar defending the Indian batsmen, praised the Australian bowlers instead, saying that any team in India's position wouldn't have crossed 80-90 runs.
"I mean, any team that is all-out for its lowest test score since the time it started playing cricket, that's never good to see. But having said that. But having said that, if any other team had been facing that kind of bowling, they would have also got out, maybe be not all-out for 36, maybe 72 or 80-90 but the way Hazelwood, Cummins bowled and the earlier 3-over spell from Starc, they asked a lot of questions," Gavaskar told Channel 7 on during the game.
"So it's not fair to blame the Indian batsmen for the way they got out because it was just simply superb bowling by the Australian bowlers," he added.
Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins triggered a collapse as the Indian batting order fell like nine-pins. Hazlewood achieved his five-wicket haul and completed 200 wickets in Test format for Australia.
The 36-all out collapse has received outrage and flak from the world over.
