Thane: Police arrest trio with drugs worth Rs 7.78 lakh

THANE: The crime branch unit-5 arrested three alleged drug pushers and recovered different commercial quantities of contraband from them collectively worth Rs 7.78 lakh.
The police said that the drugs include LSD, MDMA, Charas, ecstasy pills, Ganja collectively worth Rs 7.78 lakh. This is for the first time that so many varieties of drugs are found together.
The officer added, the arrested persons have been identified as Ayub Ansari 21, Hussain Rajani32, Nabi Shaikh alias Nabi 32. One more accused in the case is absconding, said Vikas Ghodke, the senior inspector of the crime branch.
The police said, we got a tip that some people would be coming to the toll naka near Kopri, after which we laid a trap and arrested Ansari, who revealed the entire chain and named the two other accused.
An offence under the NDPS act has been registered against the trio. They were produced before a local magistrate who remanded them into police custody till December 17 the officer said.
The police are now probing where did the contraband come from and who were the takers, the officer added.
