Ukhrul, December 18 2020: The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL) (Tangkhul headmen association) has backed the demand for a separate Naga Hag & Constitution (Yehzabo) to resolve the decades long political conflicts and bring a peaceful settlement to the Naga issue.

Briefing the media today at the office of Ukhrul District Working Journalists Association (UDWJA) SA Ramnganing said that a memorandum was today submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi via Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul Joshep Pauline Kamson urging him to expedite the peace talk based on the historic Framework Agreement and bring it to a logical conclusion.

The memorandum jointly signed by president of TNWL SA Ramnganing and secretary Kaphaoleng Angkang stressed on the Naga people's political rights on land, flag and Constitution and explained that these form the core of an honorable and acceptable settlement of the Naga issue.

In the 23 years long political negotiation, the Naga issue has been highlighted to the Government of India and a solution has to be based on the understanding of the issue, it added.

According to SA Ramnganing, Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL) is a union of 250 headmen of the Tangkhul community who are the customary guardian of the land and the people.

The headmen today are unanimous in their stand that the ongoing Naga political talks under chief negotiator Th Muivah be taken to its logical conclusion.

Flag and Constitution is the political identity of every free Nation and it is the right of the Naga Nation to have a separate flag and Constitution, he added.
