Notorious vehicle thief nabbed in Barmer district

JAISALMER: Barmer police have caught a vehicle thief who was active for the last few years. Police have recovered 18 two-wheelers and a tractor from him.
He was active in vehicle theft after being released from jail 2-3 months back. Earlier, 14 vehicles were recovered from him in January but he got bail in April and started stealing vehicles again. In the last three years, he stole around four dozen vehicles. He is an expert in stealing vehicles from crowded areas and runs away with the vehicle in a few minutes.
Barmer SP Anand Sharma said that a team was formed which nabbed the thief, Deep Singh, a resident of Paro in Barmer rural police station along with a purchaser. Various people lodged cases at Kotwali police station about vehicle theft and police were investigating the cases. With the special contribution of Ratan Singh, they finally caught Deep Singh. During the inquiry, Deep confessed stealing 19 motorcycles and a tractor. The purchaser of a stolen vehicle, Nizam, a resident of Jaisalmer district was also arrested. With the efforts of the team, 13 motorcycles were recovered.
SP said that Deep Singh would do recce in crowded areas and then steal vehicles with a master key and sell them at cheaper prices.
