Talks with farmers’ unions may be held in next 2-3 days, says Khattar after meeting Tomar

NEW DELHI: The Haryana chief minister M L Khattar on Saturday said he believed that the talk with protesting farmers’ unions could be held in the next 2-3 days and a solution could be found through discussion.
Khattar’s remarks came after his meeting with Union agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
“I have said that this issue should be resolved soon,” said Khattar.
As more and more Haryana’s farmers too started assembling at borders in solidarity with their Punjab’s counterparts, Khattar met Tomar hee at latter’s residence and discussed issues relating to farmers’ agitation and water sharing of the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal with Punjab.
“I appeal to Punjab to seriously consider SYL canal matter. Farmers of Haryana are struggling with a shortage of irrigation. I have raised this issue. We demand that construction of SYL canal should be completed,” said Khattar after the meeting.
MLAs and MPs of Haryana too had met Tomar and ‘Jal Shakti’ (water resources) minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on the issue of SYL canal early this week.
