At 4.4°C, Chandigarh colder than Shimla

Chandigarh, December 18

The city witnessed a colder night than Shimla, the Queen of Hills. The city today recorded the season’s lowest minimum temperature at 4.4°C, two degree below normal, while Shimla’s lowest temperature was recorded at 4.6°C, one degree below normal.

The maximum temperature in the UT was 17.6°C, three notches below normal.

A Meteorological Department official said in the coming days, the temperature was expected to fall further and foggy conditions were likely to continue.

The department has already issued a forecast of “cold days” and a “cold wave” till December 19 in the tricity.

Cold to severe cold wave conditions are likely in the coming days with the minimum temperature likely to be below 4°C at a few places and below 2°C at isolated places in the tricity. —TNS
