Rachel Zegler Shares Glam 'Premiere' Pics on the Day 'West Side Story' Should Have Been Released

Today would have been the day that the West Side Story musical remake would have been released in theaters, but the release has been delayed by entire year due to the pandemic.

Rachel Zegler, the newcomer who is playing the lead role of Maria, is marking the day by sharing some glam photos from her at-home “premiere.” It’s also director Steven Spielberg‘s birthday!

On her Instagram Stories, Rachel shared a photo of herself in front of a Spielberg poster.

“Happy birthday to the og, the man, the myth, the legend: Mr. Steven Spielberg. We were supposed to be celebrating you AND a movie release today but the universe knew that would be too much power for one day – so next year it is,” Rachel said. “Thank you for changing my life in so many ways, and continuing to do so with the grace of your guidance. For your existence, I am forever grateful.”

Rachel looked gorgeous while posing in a yellow dress at home. She wrote, “I was supposed to be at a premiere lol… but 2020 can’t take my serve <3."

West Side Story will now hit theaters on December 10, 2021.
