Ludhiana, December 18
The city police here today claimed to have busted a gang of thieves and arrested three of its members.
The arrested men are Ajay Kumar of Azad Nagar, Shiv Kumar of the Muradpura mohalla and Pardeep Kumar of Azad Nagar.
Additional DCP 1 Deepak Pareek, ACP Central Waryam Singh and SHO police division 2 Satpal Singh addressed a press conference here in this regard.
Pareek said the police also recovered Rs 84,000 and a mobile phone bought from the stolen money from the thieves.
One of the accused Ajay told the police that on December 13 when he was closing the shop owned by Jaspal Singh where he was an employee, he deliberately left the backdoor of the shop open.
Next day, the accused, along with his aides Ajay and Shiv, went to the shop from the rear door and stole Rs 1.5 lakh from the shop’s cash box. The key accused Ajay gave Rs 37,000 each to his two sides and kept the remaining money with him.
The ADCP said the accused Ajay was arrested on December 14, while the two other accused were arrested on December 16. During questioning of the accused, the police recovered Rs 84,000 from them.
ACP Waryam Singh said police remand of the accused would be sought from court so that in further interrogation of the accused, more recovery of cash could also be made.
