Chatra health dept prepares for vaccine arrival

Chatra: As the Covid-19 vaccine is expected to arrive soon, the district health department, under the guidance of deputy commissioner Divyanshu Jha, is making preparations for storing and administering it. Civil surgeon Arun Kumar Paswan on Friday said, “Although we haven’t been told when exactly the vaccine will be made available to us, we are making all the necessary arrangements so that when it arrives, vaccination can be done without any delay.”
A four-member team — comprising a doctor, an ANM, a para-medical worker and a multi-purpose health worker — has been formed in every community health centres across all the blocks and the team has been asked to use school buildings and the panchayat bhawan as vaccination centres.
The state government is reportedly providing four ice lined refrigerators and two deep freezers to Chatra for storing the vaccine. The health workers are now undergoing a training programme through video conferencing on how to use these storage facilities, sources said.
In the first phase of vaccination, health workers, including those working in government and private hospitals, will be given the vaccine shot. For every 100 person, five vaccinators will be required.
As many as three rooms are required for vaccination, officials said. The first room will be used for registration and verification of identity proofs of the health workers, second will be used for vaccination and once that is done, he/she will be shifted to the third room where his/her condition will be monitored by a doctor. If any complication occurs, the doctor will use the life-saving drugs available there.
