Imphal, December 17 2020: Opposition Congress party has questioned the deferment of the Cabinet meeting scheduled at Kamjong district headquarters on December 16 at the 11th hour without giving any official reason.

"Today, the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee wants to ask a question to the present Government why the Cabinet meeting which was supposed to be held on December 16 at Kamjong was called off without any notice.

This unfortunate incident will remain in the history of Manipur forever" .

This was stated by the Chairman of the Media Coordination Committee, MPCC Keisham Meghachandra Singh, MLA, according to a press release issued by MPCC media cell.

He further elaborated, "A Cabinet meeting which was going to be held at Kamjong was cancelled due to an obstruction that came from UNC, a civil society organisation.

"The BJP Government has been claiming that the law and order of the State is getting better, the situation in the hill areas is in good condition and there is peace in the State but the dignity of the Government is highly questionable/' Meghachandra said.

"During the time of former Chief Minister Rishang Keishing.

We had witnessed Cabinet meeting in the hill district and during this time too.

Under the regime of Biren Government, we witnessed Cabinet meeting.

But the differ-ence is Biren's Cabinet meeting was called off due to the intervention of an organisation.

What is the reason behind this postponement of the Cabinet meeting? .

If a Cabinet meeting was to be held in the valley areas and one of the civil society organisations of the valley oppose it.

will the Government do the same?", he argued.

He also said that the BJP-led Government showed its weakness by calling off the Cabinet meeting scheduled at Kamjong on December 16 .

The present Government has been advertising their achievements everywhere but what people see in the media reports are exactly opposite, Meghachandra remarked.

He appealed to the Government to complete all the works they had promised and to bring out the value of its Go To Hills campaign.

The Government should not stall any progress of the State just because a civil society organisation has opposed it, Meghachandra said.

He further urged the Government to hold the Cabinet meeting at Kamjong district headquarters as soon as possible by any means and bring back the dignity of the Government.
