FEROZPUR: Many farmer-leaders of the Punjab Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are forced to resign in the face of the stubborn attitude of the central government towards farm laws. Over a dozen BJP members, including former general secretary of Punjab BJP Kisan Morcha Surjit Singh Sadardin and BJP divisional presidents resigned from their original membership of the BJP on Thursday.
Hardev Singh Virk, former general secretary Kisan Morcha Ferozepur, along with party members Manjit Singh Nikku and Gurdev Singh, circle president Mamdot and circle officer, Lovepreet Singh, general secretary, accompanied by Sadardin announced their resignations at Press Club of Ferozepur on Thursday. Jagraj Singh, vice-president Mamdot, also resigned from his primary membership.
Addressing a press conference, former BJP leader Sadardin said BJP leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj were highly respected by the people but now the party is run by only two people with ‘Gujarat mindset’. The present BJP government is pushing the farmers to the brink of death with deadly policies.
