PM to address MP’s ryots

Bhopal, Dec 18 (UNI) Premier Narendra Modi will address – later Friday – the peasants of Madhya Pradesh via videoconferencing during four-tier conventions whose twin objectives are raising awareness comprehensively regarding beneficial provisions of fresh legislation in the agrarian sector besides electronic disbursal of Rs 1,600 crore to approximately 35.50 lakh tillers as relief for kharif losses, it was officially learnt.




The Prime Minister’s speech is scheduled to commence at about 1400 hrs.



Raisen is the venue for the state-level Mahasammelan to be presided over by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and witness attendance by 20,000 farmers. Other gatherings will be held at district, block and village panchayat levels. Ministers shall dole out relief in various districts.

Mr Chouhan directed collectors to ensure that the events are a success.



“Benefits should also be provided to fisherfolk, those who rear cattle, etc. Kisan Credit cards must also be distributed. In view of the novel coronavirus challenge, social distancing ought to be maintained and all attendees should wear masks mandatorily,” the senior politician instructed his officers.

Kidnap in MP town

Sehore, MP, Dec 17 (UNI) A five-year-old was kidnapped on Thursday by two masked and motorcycle-borne ruffians from a colony in Ashta, law-enforcement authorities said.
At the time of the incident, the victim Pravesh Mewada was with his two sisters who rushed home to their mother and alerted her of the crime.

Bhopal, Dec 17 (UNI) Amid reports of the Election Commission dispatching a communication directing the Madhya Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer to initiate measures via the Economic Offences Wing against individuals concerned, in the context of “large-scale” financial transactions during the Kamal Nath dispensation’s tenure, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan averred on Thursday that stringent legal action will be taken.
“I am awaiting the facts,” the senior politician said here during an interaction with members of the Fourth Estate.

Avg hike of 1 98 pc in MP power rates

Bhopal, Dec 17 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission announced new tariff on Thursday with an average increase of 1.98 per cent – though distribution companies submitted a proposal for 5.73 per cent – that will be effective from December 26, Commission sources said.
There are eight plans applicable to various categories of users. No enhancement in charges has been made vis-à-vis domestic consumers utilising 30 units up to a maximum wattage of 100, certain industrial units, temporary connections for weddings and other social or religious programmes, e-vehicles, e-rickshaw charging stations and railway traction.

War against COVID-19: MP’s body count rises to 3,442

Bhopal, Dec 17 (UNI) The fatality figure owing to the ‘millennium scourge’ mounted to 3,442 on Thursday in Madhya Pradesh where nine fresh demises were reported even as the infected tally touched 2,27,949 with 1,161 more sufferers being detected during analysis of 30,683 specimens.
A Health Services Directorate bulletin issued tonight said that Indore District continued to have the dubious distinction of spawning the highest 416 new instances, Bhopal 215, Jabalpur 44, Gwalior 41, Sagar 26, Ujjain and Khargone 23 each, etc. The silver lining is that 2,12,351 individuals recuperated; 1,326 of them on this very day.
