THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will operate special inter-state services during the Christmas-New Year holidays. The special services will operate from December 21 to January 4, from various places in the state to Bengaluru and back.
Services will be operated from Bengaluru to Kannur, Payyanur, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Thiruvananthapuram, Sulthan Bathery and back. Special services will also be operated from Thiruvananthapuram to Chennai and back.
KSRTC chairman and MD Biju Prabhakar said all services of the corporation that were temporarily stopped due to Covid-19 will resume from Friday (December 17). All unit managers have made necessary arrangements in this regard. However, he said the present practise of operating fast passenger services in two districts and superfast services in four districts would continue.
Some of these sectors will be operated with crew change system as the corporation had implemented it on December 1. The system would ensure that a driver would not drive for more than eight hours on a single stretch. The drivers would get adequate rest after eight hours, for which the corporation has made arrangements at its premises in Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur and Sulthan Bathery. The crew change system has become operational in Thiruvananthapuram-Bengaluru and Thiruvananthapuram-Mangaluru, Pathanamthitta-Bengaluru and Kottayam-Bengaluru services.
