The impact of the pandemic has severely affected all industries. It has resulted in unforeseen hardships for professionals across all fields. But one industry which has managed to remain steadfast through this all, performed above and beyond the call of duty and showcased its true potential has been the security industry of India.
Private security firms have played crucial role in maintaining a completely safe and secure environment during the pandemic. The security front line warriors set many great examples across India during the lock down. It was to honour and commemorate the efforts by leaders of this industry, the 15th edition of the annual Security Leadership Summit 2020 was organised by CAPSI and APDI.
The summit began with the arrival of the Chief Guest G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs. Also in attendance were Guests of Honour Vivek Bharadwaj, IAS, MHA and Annurag Batra, Chief Editor, BW Businessworld. The guests lit the auspicious lamp on the august occasion and formally declared the summit open.
The first speaker addressing the audience was Kunwar Vikram Singh, Chairman CAPSI. He thanked the frontline warrior organisations, working on the ground to secure enterprises across the nation and therefore contributing to the nation-building effort and ensuring a smooth and safe transition into a post-Covid world.
He appreciated the efforts of India’s private security agencies for safeguarding the security of the nation’s enterprises by ensuring the deployment of their security guards and professionals.
Kunwar Vikran Singh also specifically concentrated on thanking MoS G. Kishan Reddy for taking decisive and timely decisions during the height of the pandemic which resulted in confidence within the industry and their employees. He also showed an expression of request and hope that the GST levied on the services within the industry shall be dealt with and reduced by the central government just as the support they have provided to the industry.
Another positive impact that the Chairman mentioned to conclude his speech was that of a collaboration between international security certification agencies and CAPSI which has enabled Indian security guards and companies to be able to operate or provide their services globally and therefore cater to a larger audience.
After the Vote of Thanks to the Frontline Warriors began with great splendor the presentation of National Awards and the Badges of Honour to the recipients by the Chief Guest G. Kishan Reddy for their immense respective contributions to the industry. Also presented was the award for ‘Ease of Doing Business’ to Vivek Bharadwaj for his efforts to ensure an easier and smoother path for conducting business in the nation.
Next up was an address by Dr. Annurag Batra, Chief Editor, and BW Businessworld. He addressed the august gathering explaining that since BusinessWorld’s operations began, it has worked within the field of defence and security helping in enhancing ties between leaders within the industry.
Dr. Batra also emphasised on the importance of BusinessWorld in acting as a bridge between leaders of various industries to the security sector and helping facilitate bonding between them.
Dr. Batra also thanked the MoS G. Kishan Reddy for his support and considering the security industry as a part of a family.
The session concluded with dignitaries and conference attendees, heads of various business and industry organizations, delivering their votes of thanks to CAPSI for its historic milestone and essential efforts in furthering the cause of the security sector.
