SC stays AP HC's order to examine 'constitutional breakdown' in state

New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Terming the Andhra Pradesh High Court's order to examine 'constitutional breakdown' in the state "disturbing", the Supreme Court on Friday stayed it and issued a notice on the petition.
"We find it disturbing", a bench-led by Chief Justice SA Bobde said over the order.
The state High Court had, on October 1, directed the government to make submissions on whether the court can record a finding that there is Constitutional breakdown in the state. Responding to this, YS Jaganmohan Reddy-led government then approached the Supreme Court stating that "this is a power exclusively vested in the Executive and cannot be exercised by the Judiciary."
The matter is now listed after Christmas vacations.
