GREATER NOIDA: A 50-year-old advocate died after he was allegedly shot dead by two bike-borne assailants in Greater Noida on Thursday. He was headed to the Dadri tehsil to meet a client when the crime took place.
According to police, the advocate has been identified as Fateh Mohammad Khan, a resident of Greater Noida. “Khan had property disputes with several people, and this could be the motive behind the crime,” a police officer said.
Sujeet Upadhyaya, SHO of Sector Beta 2 police station, said Khan had planned to meet a client at Dadri tehsil around 10am on Thursday. The tehsil is barely 100 metres away from Khan’s house.
“As soon Khan stepped out from his house towards tehsil, two armed men on a motorcycle started following him. They opened fire at him merely 40 metres away from his house and fled after shooting him,” SHO said.
Khan received three bullets, one in the head and two in the chest, and was critically wounded. Locals and family members rushed him to a private hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Based on the complaint filed by Khan’s son, police have registered an FIR against the two persons, who haven’t been identified yet, under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
