Govt covering up reality through false publicity: Congress

Govt covering up reality through false publicity: Congress

New Delhi, Dec 18 (UNI) Congress on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of cheating, misleading and through false publicity, propaganda trying to cover up the reality from farmers.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday addressing a press conference here said that the PM Modi led government wants to mislead the farmers and through false publicity on their level the actual situation is being hidden from the farmers.

He said that PM Modi today addressed farmers in Madhya Pradesh, but, covered up the facts, and did not reveal that the government was cheating the farmers since beginning, Surjewala alleged.

Congress leader further attacked PM saying that he should have told the farmers of MP that the government in June 2017 announced in the Parliament regarding debt of the farmers could not be waived off.

Surjewala said that when Congress government was in centre it waived -off Rs 72 thousand crore debt of farmers.

The spokesman said that in Madhya Pradesh, the farmers whom PM Modi has addressed today, he should have also told them about the ill-effects of the three recently passed agricultural laws in the mandis of the state that have started showing up.

Surjewala claimed that after the coming of new laws 47 mandis in the state have been closed and half of the business has reduced across 147 mandis.

He said that the farmers, instead of Rs 1800 MSP are now selling their produce at Rs 800, whereas the MSP for corn is Rs 1850, but, the farmers are forced to sell the same for Rs 500.

He said that when our farmers lentils are ready, the government rather than buying from the farmers, imports from foreign countries which causes loss to our farmers.
