Farmers seize Sri Ram Chowk, ahead of BJP MP's visit

Jalandhar, Dec 18 (UNI) BJP MP from Rajya Sabha Shwet Malik was forced to cancel his visit to the city on Friday, after learning about the protest being organised by the farmers there.
Hundreds of ryots rushed to Sri Ram Chowk, soon after they learnt that the BJP MP was scheduled to visit the city.
The farmers belonging to Bhartiya Kisan Union (Rajewal) reached the Sri Ram Chowk and sat on a dharna. Police contingents also reached the Chowk, to check any untoward incident.

The traffic on roads leading from Sri Ram Chowk to Milap Chowk, Nam Dev Chowk and Jyoti Chowk was disrupted.

The protesting farmers raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union government for getting the black farm laws passed in Parliament.
