LUCKNOW: BSP chief Mayawati has staked claim to crucial infrastructure projects like the Jewar Airport and Ganga Expressway, projects conceptualized when she was in power but which are being implemented by the Yogi government, saying that first the SP government and now the current government are trying to claim credit for her work.
The former UP CM said her government could have completed several projects but the then Congress government in the Centre created hurdles for her in the name of environment clearances.
“My government was known for excellent law and order and all round development which impacted the lives of every person in the state, and unparalleled governance, a model which first Samajwadi Party and now BJP have tried to implement and continue to take credit for but where are they going to get BSP’s iron willpower from?” she asked.
Accusing the BJP government of doing less work but talking more, spending time and money on advertising, Mayawati said that projects like the Ganga Expressway or Jewar Airport were prepared under her government, which BJP was trying to project as its work. “It is fine for them to copy BSP’s good work but where are they going to get the good intent shown by BSP governments, its policies of public welfare which embraced the concept of sarvjan hitay, sarvajan sukhay. That is why these governments are not able to set anything right,” she said.
The BSP chief further added that development works in Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, Kannauj and Metro projects in various cities were also conceived under her government. She said that conceptualizing schemes and completing them in record time was a BSP model and whatever development took place after 2012, which is when BSP was replaced by SP, it was because of the preliminary work done by her government.
“Such works would have been completed during my tenure itself had the then Congress government in the state not created hurdles like environment clearance for me for its political gains,” she said.
