Pakyong, 18 Dec : As per the office of SP East on Thursday, a drug bust worth Rs 14 lakh was tracked inside a private car , alleged involvement of a Sikkim Police sub-inspector who was acting as an enabler in taking the drugs to the state was confirmed , Sikkim Police said.

In the Sikkim drug market, the ASI, along with four other peddlers, are accused of being major players. 23,184 Spasmo Provoxyin capsules, 576 files of the same substance and 100 files of N10 capsules, amounting to over 2,000 capsules, were found in the contraband consignment. The Sikkim Police have also apprehended 52 gm of brown sugar and 457 bottles of cough syrup in addition to the prescription drugs.


A press conference led by DIG Range and spokesman Prawin Gurung and Superintendent of Police for the East District Siva Prasad Yellasiri informed that this was the largest drug seizure in the state so far.

The drug shipment was initially intercepted at the Rangpo Check Post and later caught at Samdong, in a red Wagon R taxi. The police also recovered from a residential complex in Samdong village 3,684 loose capsules, 380 N10 capsules, and 21.24 gms of brown sugar along with Rs. 1.30 lakh in cash, which was operating as a store for all the shipment.
