Supreme Court junks UP Government’s appeal against Kafeel’s release

Describing the High Court’s verdict as “a good judgment”, the top court said, “We will not interfere in the judgment.”

New Delhi, December 17

The Supreme Court today refused to interfere with the Allahabad High Court order quashing the detention of Dr Kafeel Khan under the National Security Act and ordering his release.

Describing the High Court’s verdict as “a good judgment”, the top court said, “We will not interfere in the judgment.”

On behalf of the UP Government, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said the top court’s observations exonerated Dr Kafeel Khan in criminal proceedings. — TNS
