IND vs AUS 1st Test, Day 1 Live Score: Tim Paine’sAustralia has been the dominant side in the first session at Adelaide Oval in day-night Test. Virat Kohli has won the toss and elected to bat first. However, he did not get the expected start. While Prithvi Shaw departed on the second ball of the day, Mayank Agarwal could not continue his momentum and eventually departed cheaply. He was about to hand the ball to debutant Green in the previous over, but decided to continue and bowled a maiden previous over. Now he comes back and picks up a wicket first ball. What.A.Champion. Went slightly wide and bowled a 141ks nip-backer on a good length, Agarwal was good with his feet movements but the length was such he decided to stay flat-footed and poke his hands into a push. Result? A big bat-pad gate and Cummins smacks the middle of middle.

10:59 am: Jason Gillespie on Mitchell Starc’s change in bowling

Starc has recently made some technical changes to gain more control. Gillespie in an interview to Espncricinfo said: “He has just changed his gather: his bowling hand, rather than going out well in front of his body, is kept a bit closer. I’m not exactly sure why he has chosen to do that. It probably just feels like he is a bit more in control in his delivery stride and looking for a little more consistency at release.”

This period of bowling is a great example from Australian bowlers on how disciplined lines and lengths can trouble batsmen, even if there is nothing much in the pitch.

Absorbing cricket so far. Australia haven’t found much help in terms of movement, but they’ve really been on the money to give the batsmen a testing time. Credit to Pujara and Agarwal as well for showing the patience they have after Shaw’s early dismissal to weather the new ball.

Shaw is bowled on second ball as Starc wheels away in celebration. Wow what a start to the series. Good length delivery angling away from off, Shaw drives loosely away from the body.
