11:10 am: Cummins to  Agarwal, Out

Bowled!! THROUGH THE GATE! Cummins showing why he’s the number one in the world. He was about to hand the ball to debutant Green in the previous over, but decided to continue and bowled a maiden previous over. Now he comes back and picks up a wicket first ball. What.A.Champion. Went slightly wide and bowled a 141ks nip-backer on a good length, Agarwal was good with his feet movements but the length was such he decided to stay flat-footed and poke his hands into a push. Result? A big bat-pad gate and Cummins smacks the middle of middle.

10:59 am: Jason Gillespie on Mitchell Starc’s change in bowling

Starc has recently made some technical changes to gain more control. Gillespie in an interview to Espncricinfo said: “He has just changed his gather: his bowling hand, rather than going out well in front of his body, is kept a bit closer. I’m not exactly sure why he has chosen to do that. It probably just feels like he is a bit more in control in his delivery stride and looking for a little more consistency at release.”

10:57 am: Superb fielding by Mathew Wade

10:52 am:

10:37 am: After 13 overs, 25/1

This period of bowling is a great example from Australian bowlers on how disciplined lines and lengths can trouble batsmen, even if there is nothing much in the pitch.

10:30 am: Drinks are on the field now!

Absorbing cricket so far. Australia haven’t found much help in terms of movement, but they’ve really been on the money to give the batsmen a testing time. Credit to Pujara and Agarwal as well for showing the patience they have after Shaw’s early dismissal to weather the new ball.

10:22 am: Australian bowlers making it tough for Indian batsmen; After 10 overs, 21/1

First impressions are that there isn’t prodigious movement out there for now. But Australia’s discipline is making this a very tough test for India’s batsmen upfront.

9:57 am: After 5 overs, India 7/1

Mayank Agarwal looks much settled now and is now feeling the pitch after that early blow in Shaw that India faced in the first over. Australian bowlers, on the other hand, are using Adelaide’s fuller bowling conditions to their advantage.

9:35 am: Starc to Prithvi Shaw, out Bowled!!

Shaw is bowled on second ball as Starc wheels away in celebration. Wow what a start to the series. Good length delivery angling away from off, Shaw drives loosely away from the body.

9:09 am: Teams:

Australia (Playing XI): Joe Burns, Matthew Wade, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Tim Paine(w/c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood

9:05 am: India win toss, elect to bat first

Virat Kohli calls heads, and it’s heads. India will bat. “Looks like a nice wicket, nice and hard,” Kohli says. “Runs on the board are priceless, especially away from home. We’ve prepared really well, boys have had a lot of time in the nets, couple of tour games as well. A bit of cloud cover here, so we have to be more solid up front.”

Joe Burns and Matthew Wade to open, says Tim Paine, as expected. “The message for us, as always, is keep things as simple as we possibly can. We know exactly what is expected. Happy to bowl first, to be honest. I would have liked to bat first, but we’ve done well in all conditions, and if we can challenge them in the right areas, we back our bowlers to do well.

8:41 am: Cameron Green- Mr 459 Test debutant for Australia

Cameron Green gets the baggy green from Pat Cummins. Now can he join the elite Australian Hat-Trick club?

8:10 am: Pitch and conditions

Any day-night game features grass on the pitch to protect the pink ball. Although Kookaburra have made considerable advancements so that the amount greenery doesn’t scare batsmen anymore, there will still be plenty of movement early on.

While there may be a passing shower or two, rain shouldn’t have too much of a say in the Test match.
