CBI raids AG officer's residence

Imphal, December 16 2020: A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation's Anti-Corruption Bureau, Imphal carried out a raid at the residence of a Senior Account Officer of the office of Principal Accountant General (A&E) Manipur today.

The CBI conducted the raid from early morning at N Budhichandra's residence located at Uripok Ahanthem Leikai two days after the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Imphal West registered an FIR against him under Prevention of Corruption.

Act for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

N Budhichandra originally hails from Kakching.

The raid was still on till the time of filing this report and hence no official report about any seizure could be obtained.

N Budhichandra had joined service on August 5, 1988 as a Clerk.

The FIR against him alleged that he had acquired huge assets both moveable and immoveable during the period from January 2010 to October 2020 in his name and members of his family amounting to Rs 1,11,85,111 .

His monthly salary during the period of January 2010 to October 2020 amounts to only Rs 68,64,581 .

He took a housing loan of Rs 25 lakh from a bank in 2017, said the FIR.

The total expenditure incurred by him towards non verified kitchen expenses, repayment of EMI of housing loan, housing loan overdue recovery, life insurance etc during the period from January 2010 to October 2020 comes to the tune of Rs 37,31739 .

The computation of assets disproportionate to known sources of income comes to the extent of Rs 54,42,269 which N Budhichandra could not satisfactorily account for, alleged the FIR.
