IND vs AUS 1st Test, Day 1 Live Score: Tim Paine’s Australia are still in control, courtesy of Nathan Lyon’s bowling in the second session at Adelaide Oval. The pink ball is expected to do a bit more under lights when the sun goes down, so Cummins will lead the attack having rested well. Pujara is a big loss for India.
He did his best to counter Lyon and Lyon won the battle for just focusing on what he wanted to do – to bowl a consistent line – and not worry about Pujara using the feet every ball. Kohli looks organised and Rahane thrives in tough batting conditions. This should be an interesting end to the night. Back in about 15 minutes.
Ind vs Aus 1st Test Day 1 Live Score and Updates:
14: 15: That’s tea ladies and gentlemen! India doing well but Australia are well in control; Score 107/3
13:55: Lyon to Pujara, THATS OUT!! Caught!!
Not given out caught, Australia review. Did he start walking? No. Aah that’s a big inside edge. On your way!

13:46: After 48 overs, 97/2
Considering the current run rate India would score 190-200 in 90 overs which was par score a few days back in T20Is and in IPL. Nonetheless, the patience with which Pujara is playing, he surely is a reminiscence of his 2018 version.
13:28: After 43 overs, 77/2
Crucial phase of today’s play now. India looking to hold wickets and gradually up the scoring rate while Australia probing for mistakes from the batsmen before the pink ball starts playing tricks under lights.
13:10: After 40 overs, 71/2
At Drinks, Pujara has his own style of batting and had a lot of success with it in the past. He is looking rock solid against the Australian attack. The Kohli-Pujara partnership will be key to reach a big total.
12:49: After 35 overs, 66/2
India are playing too slow. Although they have wickets in hand, but a low run rate might cost them later
Looking at the scoring rate, Shaw should be default choice for his fast scoring ability which Sehwag did in old days.
12:48: Meanwhile, Jadeja was seen sprinting during the session’s break

12:35: It’s a battle of momentum in a Test match. The initial momentum goes to the Aussies, however, if the pair dig deep and tire the bowlers out it will be an advantage India again.
12:17: After 27 overs, 41/2
The ball is not moving as much as it was doing it earlier. But the discipline bowling that Australian bowlers are doing still keeps Indian batsmen on toes.
12:01: Opting to bat, India lost Prithvi Shaw second ball as Starc exploited his weakness against the incoming delivery. Mayank Agarwal looked solid during his brief-stay, but Pat Cummins set him up with a peach of a nip-backer to keep India two down 30 minutes inside the break. Pujara, as ever, showed glimpses of his artistry manoeuvring singles as and when he got the opportunity. Kohli looks fluent with his footwork but the real test begins in the next session as Australia will do anything and everything to get these two batsmen out. One word about the Australian bowling: Tight. No freebies on offer. And that’s Test cricket for you.

11:10 am: Cummins to Agarwal, Out
Bowled!! THROUGH THE GATE! Cummins showing why he’s the number one in the world. He was about to hand the ball to debutant Green in the previous over, but decided to continue and bowled a maiden previous over. Now he comes back and picks up a wicket first ball. What.A.Champion. Went slightly wide and bowled a 141ks nip-backer on a good length, Agarwal was good with his feet movements but the length was such he decided to stay flat-footed and poke his hands into a push. Result? A big bat-pad gate and Cummins smacks the middle of middle.
Patty with a peach!

10:59 am: Jason Gillespie on Mitchell Starc’s change in bowling
Starc has recently made some technical changes to gain more control. Gillespie in an interview to Espncricinfo said: “He has just changed his gather: his bowling hand, rather than going out well in front of his body, is kept a bit closer. I’m not exactly sure why he has chosen to do that. It probably just feels like he is a bit more in control in his delivery stride and looking for a little more consistency at release.”
10:57 am: Superb fielding by Mathew Wade
He might be a wicket-keeper, but he’s no slouch in the field 🔥

10:37 am: After 13 overs, 25/1
This period of bowling is a great example from Australian bowlers on how disciplined lines and lengths can trouble batsmen, even if there is nothing much in the pitch.
10:30 am: Drinks are on the field now!
Absorbing cricket so far. Australia haven’t found much help in terms of movement, but they’ve really been on the money to give the batsmen a testing time. Credit to Pujara and Agarwal as well for showing the patience they have after Shaw’s early dismissal to weather the new ball.
10:22 am: Australian bowlers making it tough for Indian batsmen; After 10 overs, 21/1
First impressions are that there isn’t prodigious movement out there for now. But Australia’s discipline is making this a very tough test for India’s batsmen upfront.
9:57 am: After 5 overs, India 7/1
Mayank Agarwal looks much settled now and is now feeling the pitch after that early blow in Shaw that India faced in the first over. Australian bowlers, on the other hand, are using Adelaide’s fuller bowling conditions to their advantage.

9:35 am: Starc to Prithvi Shaw, out Bowled!!
Shaw is bowled on second ball as Starc wheels away in celebration. Wow what a start to the series. Good length delivery angling away from off, Shaw drives loosely away from the body.
9:09 am: Teams:
Australia (Playing XI): Joe Burns, Matthew Wade, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Tim Paine(w/c), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood
India (Playing XI): Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Wriddhiman Saha(w), Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
9:05 am: India win toss, elect to bat first
Virat Kohli calls heads, and it’s heads. India will bat. “Looks like a nice wicket, nice and hard,” Kohli says. “Runs on the board are priceless, especially away from home. We’ve prepared really well, boys have had a lot of time in the nets, couple of tour games as well. A bit of cloud cover here, so we have to be more solid up front.”
Joe Burns and Matthew Wade to open, says Tim Paine, as expected. “The message for us, as always, is keep things as simple as we possibly can. We know exactly what is expected. Happy to bowl first, to be honest. I would have liked to bat first, but we’ve done well in all conditions, and if we can challenge them in the right areas, we back our bowlers to do well.
8:41 am: Cameron Green- Mr 459 Test debutant for Australia

8:10 am: Pitch and conditions
Any day-night game features grass on the pitch to protect the pink ball. Although Kookaburra have made considerable advancements so that the amount greenery doesn’t scare batsmen anymore, there will still be plenty of movement early on.
While there may be a passing shower or two, rain shouldn’t have too much of a say in the Test match.
