Today is a special day for farmers: PM

New Delhi, Dec 16 (UNI) In the midst of ongoing protest against new farm laws across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that today is a special day for farmers, as the government has given approval for Rs 3500 crore for sugarcane farmers.
After Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister tweeted, ''Today is a special day for crores of 'anndata'. The government has given approval of Rs 3500 crore for 5 crore sugarcane farmers. The money will be directly transferred to their accounts. Lakhs of allied workers will also get benefits.”
The government has announced subsidy of Rs 3500 crore for the export of 60 lakh tonnes sugar for 2020-21.
