An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was reported near Delhi on Thursday night, according to India’s National Center for Seismology.
The National Center for Seismology, which comes under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, said the epicentre of the quake was Alwar in Rajasthan.
The earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale struck at 11:46 pm at a depth of five kilometres, the NCS said.
The earthquake struck at 11:46 pm at a depth of 7.5 km from the surface.
“The intensity of the quake was 4.2 on Richter Scale. The epicentre was Alwar, Rajasthan,” JL Gautam, Director (Operations), Seismology, India Meteorological Department , said.
