AMRITSAR: Border Security Force (BSF) shot dead two armed Pakistani intruders and seized arms, ammunition, and heroin in three different attempts made by Pak based narco-terrorists in a single night to infiltrate terrorists and smuggle drugs into India.
Deputy Inspector General, BSF, Amritsar sector, Bhupinder Singh informed on Thursday that three attempts of intrusion and smuggling were made from Pakistan side on the intervening night of December 16 and 17 which were foiled by the BSF jawans.
BSF has recovered 1 AK 56 rifle, 2 magazines and 61 live rounds, 1 Magnum rifle, 1 magazine and 29 live rounds, 1 Olympia marked pistol with 2 magazines and 5 kg of heroin.
Giving details of the intrusion bid, Bhupinder Singh informed that BSF jawan posted in the area of jurisdiction of Rajatal Border out Post (BoP) detected suspicious movement across the international border fence and challenged the intruders. As the BSF jawan heard the rifle cocking sound, they opened fire killing 2 Pakistani intruders on the spot whose bodies were recovered upon a search of the area on Thursday morning. Both the Pakistani intruders had crossed the international border and had entered the Indian territory.
He informed that a protest was being lodged with the Pakistani Rangers who would also be shown the photograph of slain intruders to identify them.
Besides, the investigations have been launched with border zone police’s team of the second line of defence and other security agencies to know the motive behind intrusion bid.
Almost one kilometre from where the Pakistani intruders were shot, Pak smuggles made another attempt to smuggle heroin into India and another smuggling bid was made from the area of jurisdiction of BoP Ramkot.
Sources informed that investigations had also been launched to nab the Indian counterparts of the Pakistani smuggles who were to receive the heroin packets. The Pak smuggles were carrying the pipes to slip the heroin packets through them across the border fence erected on the Indian territory.
During the current year, BSF had recovered around 491 kg heroin from the international border with Pakistan in Punjab while a total of 8 Pakistani intruders had been shot dead by the force.
