Ludhiana: A man and his nephew, who were riding a scooter, were crushed to death by a speedy bus at the Partap chowk here on Wednesday. The Man died on the spot while his nephew succumbed to his injuries while on the way to a hospital. They have been identified as Agnidev Yadav (35) of Dashmesh Nagar and Hari Parshad (26) of Giaspura. Agnidev was working with some hosiery unit and his wife and two children were staying in Bihar. Hari, who was a plumber, was staying in Giaspura with his wife and three children. Both victims were heading to the market on their scooter and when they reached the Partap chowk, they were hit by the bus from the rear side. The bus driver fled the spot after the accident. The police impounded the vehicle and registered a case of negligent driving against the driver. TNS
Man attacked by armed assailants
Ludhiana: A man was brutally attacked by three armed persons at Galib Kalan village. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment where his condition was stated to be normal. The suspects have been identified as Surinder Singh, Nirmal Singh of Galib Kalan and an unknown person. Complainant Jaswant Singh told the police that on December 13, he was heading to the bus stand from Galib Kalan village. When he reached near a government school, he was cornered by three bike-borne armed persons. He said they first hit their bike and when he fell down, he was attacked with heavy wooden sticks. The victim said he had old enmity with the suspects due to which they attacked him. Later, when his son had reached the spot, they fled the spot after threatening him. The victim said he had informed the Sadar Jagraon police and registered a case against them. ASI Shinderpal Singh said a case of attempt to murder had been registered against them and raids were on to nab them. TNS
